Hit so hard
P. David EbersoleBiography:
Singled out a decade ago by Filmmaker Magazineas one of "25 New Indie Faces," writer/ director/ producer P. David Ebersole likes to joke that he is one of the "25 Tired Old Indie Faces". David recently made his prime-time directing debut with DESIRE, the first American telenovela on the new Fox owned My Network TV and also directed their hit follow up novella, WICKED WICKED GAMES starring the inimitable Tatum O'Neal. David's first feature, STRAIGHT RIGHT, premiered as an original cable movie on Sundance Channel; and he coproduced STRANGER INSIDE (HBO), directed by Cheryl Dunye, produced by Jim McKay, Michael Stipe and Effie Brown, which debuted at Sundance and was nominated for four Spirit Awards.
As a student writer/ director, David scored a rare "double-header" winning both Best Undergraduate Film & Director at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for his project LOVER MAN and the Franklin J Schaffner Award for Best Film/ Director at the American Film Institute for his multiple award winning .F.A. thesis, DEATH IN VENICE, CA.
David was founding Artistic Director and Festival Director of the Silver Lake Film Festival, he mentors in Film Independent's "Project:Involve" program, and he has taught film/ video production at Pitzer College, Chapman University and USC School of Cinema/ TV. Though he is proud to have directed documentary segments for LAWSON LIVE on the Hallmark Network (for legendary Reverend Jim Lawson, a close colleague of Martin Luther King Jr), HIT SO HARD is his first feature length documentary.Filmography:2000: STRAIGHT RIGHT2006: Desire (TV series)2007: Wicked Wicked Games (TV series)

When Nirvana burst onto the scene in 1991, the music they played spoke directly to an angry and disenfranchised generation. As grunge took over MTV and radio, the music industry was transformed overnight. But just three years later, the drug-related deaths of several musicians, capped by the suicide of Kurt Cobain, closed the books on an all too brief era. Hit So Hard follows the rise to fame (and the near-fatal fall from it) of Patty Schemel, drummer for Courtney Love's seminal rock band, Hole. Given a Hi-8 video camera just before Hole's infamous Live Through This world tour, Patty captured stunningly intimate footage of the scene that has never been seen... until now. Not just an all-access backstage pass to the music that shaped a generation, Hit So Hard is a harrowing tale of overnight success, the cost of addiction, and ultimately, recovery and redemption.
