MPM Film and Premium Films joined forces and created together a new international feature films sales company. Combining deep knowhow and a large network in the industry, we are even stronger to keep supporting unique, daring and engaging movies.
MPM Film was founded in 2007 by Marie-Pierre Macia, former director of the Quinzaine des Realisateurs (directors' Fortnight) well known for discovering and promoting 1st director's films like Sofia Coppola's VIRGIN SUICIDES and the Romanian directors Cristi Puiu's MARFA SI BANII and Cristian Mungiu's OCCIDENT. Striving to discover, produce and internationally promote daring authors, MPM Film coproduced Panos Koutras' XENIA, Bela Tarr's THE TURIN HORSE and recently, Lucrecia Martel's ZAMA. Through its International Sales Department, the company represented Adrian Sitaru's THE FIXER, Mahmoud Sabbagh's BARAKAH MEETS BARAKAH and also French Films like Jean-Gabriel PERIOT's SUMMER LIGHTS, Maud Alpi's STILL LIFE or Elise Girard's STRANGE BIRDS. Claire GADEA has joined the company MPM Film as producer more than 3 years ago. She started her career with producer Jacques Bidou. As a production assistant, she worked on about ten feature films including One Evening After the War by Rithy Panh, The Mutants by Teresa Villaverde, April Captains by Maria de Medeiros and Lumumba by Raoul Peck. Claire Gadea produced Run directed by Philippe Lacote which was selected in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, 2014. She's a member of ACE Producers Network.
On its side, Premium Films was created in 1998 by Jean-Charles Mille and got specialized in the short films international sales, representing many internationally acclaimed and award winning titles, among them the Palme d'Or winners TRAFIC, LEIDI AND WAVES 98 and more than 20 Academy Award nominees DEKALB ELEMENTARY in 2018). The privileged relationships developed with talented young directors and producers encouraged Premium Films team to create in 2013 a feature film department which already represented Noaz Deshe's WHITE SHADOW, Daniel Hoesl 's SOLDATE JEANNETTE and Fernando Guzzoni's JESUS.
During the EFM 2018, its first market as a new company, MPM Premium presents PERMANENT GREEN LIGHT by Zac Farley and the polemic American writer Denis Cooper (in competition in Rotterdam), well known for his books George Miles Cycle and Sluts (Prix Sade); FATIMA, Portuguese title by the multi awarded Joao Canijo (Rotterdam) ; and LIQUID TRUTH, timely film about online lynching by the Brasilian director Carolina Jabor.
